Talented Tots Curriculum

Every class at Talented Tots Preschool has targeted skills that are based on the age level of the daycare classroom. Daily activities geared toward these skills will stimulate your child’s development and make him/her excited about learning! Talented Tots Childcare’s infant and toddler programs are unique in their design. Instead of combining infants and toddlers into one preschool classroom, there are four separate classrooms structured for each group to focus on individual developmental milestones.

Talented Tots curriculum encompasses the four main subject areas of language arts, mathematics, science and social science. These subject areas are taught through thematic units. We also have a different “exploratory class” each day of the week which includes; Spanish, music, gymnastics, computers and art. We design our curriculum to allow children to have a smooth transition into kindergarten.

Here are some examples of skills that are taught in each of the subject areas:

Language Arts:
  • How to retell a story
  • Letter recognition
  • Communication through drawing
  • Name recognition and name writing
  • Begin to copy letters
  • Rhyming words
Science:
  • Weather
  • Life cycle of plants and animals
  • The four seasons
  • Health concepts
Social Science:
  • Holidays
  • Famous Americans
Mathematics:
  • How to recognize and create patterns
  • Number recognition
  • Shapes
  • Problem solving
  • Sorting and comparing objects
  • Graphing

Curriculums

Infants and toddlers have the gift of curiosity and a thirst for knowledge. At Talented Tots Daycare, we begin using Baby Signs in our infant classrooms to encourage the children to use simple hand gestures and sign language to communicate their needs, what they want, or what they are seeing in their environment. Giving the infants and toddlers in our care the basic tools to communicate even before they can talk will boost their self-esteem, and decrease frustrations between caregivers/parents and the children when using words isn’t an option.

Alphabet Action is used in our toddler classrooms to teach students the importance of understanding the names and sounds of letters. This skill is one of the most crucial building blocks for beginning literacy. Alphabet Action is a collection of phonics and action songs taught through music. It is a powerful and enjoyable tool to help gain knowledge about alphabet letters and understand what they are, what they sound like, and what they look like. Alphabet Action has a diverse and catchy musical phrase for each letter.

Exploratory Classes

Students ages two years and older will have the opportunity to participate in each of the following exploratory classes once per week. These classes are included in your childcare tuition at no additional charge.

Students will be introduced to an early childhood music and movement program based on the belief that every child is musical. Research has proven that music nurtures a child’s cognitive, emotional, social, and language development. You will see your child grow and develop in all these areas at his or her own pace. Each daycare class is made up of singing and dancing activities, playing games, reading books, playing instruments, and more.

We are so excited to expand our music classes at Talented Tots to include the toddler classes. Toddler music classes will include singing, fingerplays, movement, dancing and instrument exploration. We will use fun songs to learn about animals, transportation, holidays, seasons, rhymes and much more. We will explore moving our fingers, hands and whole body because movement is key to learning. We will also nurture the toddler’s singing and speaking voice with an age-appropriate mix of songs and rhymes. Toddlers will explore instruments which are designed just for toddlers, like shakers and drums, as well as other non-musical props like balls, scarves, puppets and more. Be watching for lists of songs that we will be singing in class so you can sing along at home with their favorites.
